8 Questions for Jacqueline Frances: Stripper, Comedian and author of The Beaver Show

Jacq

So stoked to be featured on The Gloss today!

Interview with Kristyn Filip

If you were to look up “jack of all trades” in the dictionary, you might find a picture of Jacqueline Frances listed as the definition. Jacq is a stand-up comedian, an illustrator, a writer, and a “happy stripper.” She’s also a blogger—her post called “CAT STEVENS WAS A CAPTAIN SAVE-A-HO” undid me (and yes, those illustrations are hers, too). Jacq can now add “memoirist” to her resume, having recently published a book—The Beaver Show—about her adventures in stripping.

But before becoming the feminist-as-fuck author, artist, and activist that she is today, Jacq was just another kid growing up in small-town Ontario. When she finished high school, she moved to Montreal to study Cultural Theory and Russian Literature at Canada’s prestigious McGill University. After graduating, Jacq set off for Thailand and Australia, the latter being where her stripping career began. Today, she lives in New York City with her wife and her plants.

Here’s what Jacq had to say about The Beaver Show, her beauty routine, her favorite songs to strip to, and what’s next on her professional bucket list.
